It just seems that I’m having less and less time to blog nowadays due to studies, our impending move and the preparation of my new business. On an average day, I have just enough energy to read blogs than to write it. I do apologize for not writing as much.
I hope that my worse fears aren’t coming alive … that this blog is dying a slow death. I can’t bear to see that happen and I’m going to somehow try to keep it alive at all costs. I hold The Foo Logs too close to my heart to have it disappear.
Interestingly, although I haven’t written a blog post in a while and with my infrequent sporadic posting, my blog traffic has somewhat increased. It has gone from an average of 250 unique visitors a day to about 800! It almost seems like I get more traffic when I am not writing than when I do write. I can’t figure that out.
Take a look at my traffic stats since Sept 07 (the time I installed the Mint traffic software on my web host). The traffic shown for today is up to 5 pm only but it is still more than I used to get on an average day.
All the more to keep writing and to keep this blog alive, right? :-)

I would think so. Looking at your traffic fills me with the sense of doom. I’m lucky if I get 50 unique hits a day. Of course, I haven’t always posted things with regularity and definitely not interesting things. LOL
But wow. you gotta keep it alive! you can do it!

I say keep it going. Any clue to the increase otherwise?

Hi Mel - that’s a pretty amazing increase considering you haven’t been posting. Do you have no idea at all where it’s all coming from? That genius post you did was pretty popular, but did your traffic come because of that, or before it?

Hi Mel - sorry I’m such a dope sometimes. I’ve discovered where all your traffic has come from.
I just started using stumbleupon in January, and I liked your genius or normal test, so I discovered it on StumbleUpon and reviewed it.
It looks like plenty of other people like it too, because after that, lots of people have reviewed it and voted it.
If you go to the link below, you can see it. And if you click the little bubble near the stumbleupon sign, it will show you everyone who has reviewed it and voted it. I’m not sure this works if you don’t have a stumbleupon account, but you can get one at www.stumbleupon.com
Here’s the link to the reviews:

@CatherineL
that’s interesting. throughout all this, the traffic has been high but somewhat uniform within the last 2 months. would like to think that at least some of those people have stayed and keep coming back.
i have read on other sites that stumbleupon traffic last a max of 1-2 weeks too…. so it totally disproves the theory that stumbleupon traffic is temporary and causes short spikes (as mine has been uniform and not spiky at all).
in mint, it does show other posts being looked at a lot too. also seems like people are browsing/ reading more than commenting.

Hi Mel - yes, many do come back. Mine did spike for a few days, but it never fell to the levels it fell to before.
A lot of people seem to have stumbled the post, which proves it was popular. So you just need to keep writing more!
I agree on the commenting bit - my comments haven’t increased much. I’ve noticed that most stumblers seem to spend their time reading and stumbling, so they probably don’t have any time left to comment.
