Toy galore | The Foo Logs

We went to Target yesterday to look for some birthday presents for J’s nephew and I was in awe with the sophistication and type of toys they had available.

Looking at the mini laptops (for pre-teens), 2 foot remote control Hummers, the remote control helicopters (that could fly and change into a robot), the dozens of variations on each Marvel/ DC superhero, the motorized Star Wars sets, the motorized Lego sets, the mechanical robots, the realistic looking tool kits (together with special kid friendly building wood), the big motorized cranes … I was somewhat jealous I wasn’t a kid!

One could even buy a small Harley Davidson or a miniature sports car (complete with a workable BOSE DVD/CD stereo system) for his kid to drive around in. Even for the girls, they had real working mini chrome like kitchens to bake and cook.

When an old Thomas the Tank Engine toy starts having the sophistication to start talking to you and answering your every word - that’s pretty impressive.

Wow! Wish I was a kid again.

My friend’s son has the Harley motorcycle! He’s the envy of all the boys on the block!

All I got was an easy bake oven!

I’m so jealous of all the new kid toys. They even have dolls that can actually grow (height-wise)! It’s amazing.

I’m curious: Where did the cartoon illustrations in your template come from? They remind me of the illustrations that used to be on the CD releases of late, great Five Iron Frenzy.

Hm… I’m glad that i’m not a kid any more! Think about the competition I had to put up with when it comes to boys… *lol*

What a change with your blog layout! Very unique looking and kind of - boy’ish ;-) Great!

kailani: the most popular boy on the block - wish I had a one like that when I was younger. i had a sit in car alright… one that I had to push with my feet (flinstones style).

thethinker: oh yes, i saw one of those easy bake ovens too. dolls that can actually grow in height?? what will they think of next?

Mark: It is just a stock cartoon photo and yes it does look like one of the robots on the Five Iron Frenzy album.

Mrs. Lifecruiser: thanks, glad you like my blog layout. love robots - so no better than to have them on my blogs.

If you were surprised to see toy robots taking over the world, just imagine them starting to blog on their own. Check these little guys out – they sure didn’t have that when I was a kid - man I miss old fashioned toys . . . like Atari.

Now, imagine going shopping with a four-year old boy in a toy shop without maxing out your credit card. It’s difficult, to say the least…

i’ve always thought target had a not-so-good toy selection… but i’m not as much into all the new stuff.

just imagine what the future will be like, tho…

My 5 year old cousin has so many toys- I don’t even bother buying him anything now. He’s into CDs, believe it or not- and the ONLY music he’ll listen to is old country. I’m thinking of just getting him a gift certificate at Wal Mart and he can pick out his own freaking CD lol

    lora: lol good idea.

haakon: that blog is great… thanks for the link.

mr. fab: lincoln logs are great! i also see blogmad is finally working for me :-)

happy and blue: oh i remember that one… a stick with a nail. i also remember the toy called “the box” :-)

cosima: i can’t even imagine taking a 4 year old to a toy shop!

carrie: it doesn’t have a bad collection but obviously it isn’t a ToysRus — which is pretty scary to think what other types of toys they have. may have to visit ToysRus one day to see.

beth: wow a 5 year old listening to old country! funny! on the bright side, it may be cheaper than buying actual toys for him.
