The Remember Ring | The Foo Logs

Thanks to one of my online buddies, I was alerted of what she called a true engineering feat - a wedding ring that heats up about 24 hours before the anniversary occurs.

The Remember Ring™ has a special nagging feature, using a Hot Spot technology that warms up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 seconds, every hour, on the hour, beginning 24 hours before that special day, apparently honoring the anniversary of your voluntary servitude. That’s supposed to be warm enough to be uncomfortable but not hot enough to burn you. The Remember Ring™ converts the heat from your hand into electricity using a micro-thermo pile, keeping that battery charged and its heat-bomb clock ticking away, ready to burn you again next year.

The idea belongs to Cleve Oines, who runs the Web site for Goldsmith Gallery, a jewelry shop in the small town of Sitka, Alaska. “Originally it was sort of a ‘ha-ha,’ but it’s been getting so much traffic that we’ve begun to wonder,” he said. Source: ABC News

What I am wondering is that there doesn’t seem to be an off switch or something when you do remember your special day - are you just expected to be burnt 24 hours prior regardless of whether you remember or not? Maybe it’s deliberately done to punish all men for the sins of those who have forgotten in the past.

Before all you ladies rush out to buy this for your husbands, this is just a prototype and not sold yet. Until then, we men have to remember it the traditional way - using our PDAs.

My husband usually remembers our anniversary about a month and a half before it occurs. When you quiz him out of the blue, he will state a day, month, year, and allthree are usually wrong. But he thinks he knows it.

Haha, that ring is funny, and that comment above is too! I don’t think one day would be enough preparation for me if I forgot, which is more likely to happen than my husband forgetting! He doesn’t have a good memory for lots of things but if it’s to do with me he’s well prepared. My birthday, anniversary, he’s even organised my christmas present already!

I think I’d be mad if my husband needed that to remember our anniversary.

Besides, when it’s approaching, I bring it up continuously (Honey, did you know that it’s 2 weeks until our anniversary?) so he’d kind of be a dumbass not to remember. And I didn’t marry a dumbass…

Oh my goodness, that is brilliant. Being twice married, that sounds like a great idea. My hubby needs one! LMAO! Actually, I made it easy for him to remember, we got married on Valentines day. :P

Interesting, well written, and at points even useful. As a newbie to this whole “blogosphere”, I gotta say, I’m impressed by what you have here.

    Not likely [ROFL]

    120 Degrees?

I would be taking it off, opening it up and dipping it a nice glass of water till it shorts out.

Then I would wear it like normal and nothing is wrong.

Sorry, but how about a reverse engineering and making a tongue stud for women that does the same for when they Nag.

    [chuckles]

I wonder if that would be just as popular and get the same support.

    [grins evilly]

What a bizarre concept. Next will be a ring that gives a husband a shock if he looks at another woman.

Sanitybreak: thanks for the tongue stud idea - that was pretty funny!

Neil: oh yeah, give “them” other ring ideas, won’t you? i think there is already a mechanism in place for that - it’s called “suffe-ring” or the “slap in the head, silent treatment, sleeping on the couch and no sex for a month” punishment. ;-)

[…] The Foo Logs The Remember Ring utilizes patent pending Hot Spot™ technology to deliver a reminder that it’s “That time of the year again!” 24 hours before your special day, the Hot Spot™ on the interior surface of your Remember Ring™ will warm to 120º F for approximately 10 seconds, and continue to warm up every hour, on the hour, all day long! Hot enough to cause discomfort but not hot enough to burn-the Remember Ring™ is impossible to ignore! […]
