No matter how much J and I take care and effort in making sure that pairs of socks match before putting it in the washing machine, one side of it always somehow gets lost. I currently have a half dozen one sided socks that don’t have its matching partner. Whatever happens to it?

Here are my theories:

• The socks disappear into another parallel dimension called the Twilight Zone.
• There is an invisible sock burglar that snatches random socks on its way to the dryer.
• The washing machine manufacturers all have a secret pact with sock makers to hide one side so that we keep buying more socks. It is then stored in a hidden compartment behind the washer where it is slowly dissolved through time with acid.
• The washer or dryer has a defect that shrinks random sides of socks down to a small minuscule size i.e. too small for the human eye.
• The socks are mistakenly washed down the drain and there is a huge pile of socks washed up somewhere.
• I am just losing my mind.
