Can you shut down your computer and not touch it for 24 hours? Denis Bystrov and Michael Taylor has come up with an experiment to see how many people can do it. They are naming it The Shutdown Day and it’ll officially be on March 24th. I’ll try, but it’ll be tough.

I say no, not a chance, but I might be able to. But I use the computer for working, and well, it’s tough to work without touching it. but I’ll have to try.

Yeah, if my job wasn’t entirely dependent on computers, I’d definitely try. Don’t think I’d make it through the day, but I’d try ;)

March 24th is a Saturday. I think I can pick up another bad habit during those 24 hours if I can’t read my email. :smoke_tb:

Does shutting it down over night count?

Given that I work at home, on my computer, and I work 7 days a week, I don’t see that happening.

Kailani, Yoshii, Ryan: Since it is a Saturday, I might take the wifey out … that might do the trick and buy me some time! :smile2_ee:

AV: lol yeah, i could probably pickup another bad habit easily.

Jan: nope I don’t think shutting it down over night counts — that’s kind of “cheating” lol :rasberry_ee:

Cristin: you work 7 days a week? what do you work as, may I ask?

I am self-employed as a “consultant”. It’s kind of like having a regular job, except I get screwed on income tax and never have to see my “boss”. I do customer service, light tech support, and order processing for a small online outfit. I live in Texas, my “boss” lives in DC, and my paychecks come from Cali. Hooray for teh intarwebs.

I can sympathize with cristin. I’m not quite as bad. I work at home as well, and well, my computer is my lifeline. My clients are everywhere, but mainly in st. louis and arizona. Go figure.

But I might take the wife out that weekend. That’s a great idea. It’s her birthday weekend, so we’ll see!

I am shutting down for over a week. I have shut down for a month. Not even a problem. I’m addicted, no doubt, but I will be doing something better. Playing with my niece in Arizona. Vacation baby. beats internet anyday.

I’ll be out of the country on that day for a total of over a week I won’t be touching my computer, so the shutdown day shouldn’t be any problem :P.
