So.. riddle me this… what are the chances of me getting back my computer from the computer manufacturer and then another problem crops up?
Well, the chances are VERY LIKELY. Yesterday, at my in-law’s place, being in a non-wifi/broadband zone, I had to use the dial-up modem port (on my notebook) to get on the internet. To my horror, the dial-up modem didn’t work and gave me several errors… (it worked BEFORE I sent the computer in!!). Hmmmm, going through the troubleshooting process again with my computer manufacturer tech support department, we narrowed it down to a bad modem port. Basically, from getting back my computer last week, they changed the motherboard on my notebook computer but somehow the integrated dialup modem port was bad. I have yet to test my ethernet port out as I have been using WIFI all the time lately. I’ll answer that one when I get back home to test my ethernet port. That COULD add an extra anger vein to my neck.
Oh yes, I failed to mention previously … I have a Compaq Presario V2000 notebook (bought it in February, less than a year old). I have to admit that I love this computer, hence my tolerance to the problems or I would have stomped on it weeks ago …
I can’t bare to be without a computer again, so the big question is…
- while still under warranty, do I send it back to get the modem port fixed (which I use only occasionally) losing a week or two without the computer again) or
- stick with a broken modem port and use my external modem (which I have handy)
… stay tuned!! decisions, decisions!
