You can find that out by going to [3] iPod Death Clock. Type in your iPod Serial Number, answer a few questions about the general usage and the software algorithms will crank out your iPod’s life expectancy.

To spoil your fun… this is for entertainment purposes only. However it would be a good way to relatively determine when you need a new one, to plan to save up for one or (better yet) show this to your mom/ dad/ wife/ husband to convince them that you need a new iPod.
