Amusing (but true) article in this months “Wired Magazine” pointed out the do’s and don’ts of people using electronic/ tech gizmos in public… I added some of mine as well:

  • don’t forget to take off your bluetooth headsets AFTER you finish a cell phone conversation; looking like a Star Trek guy walking around with it on your ear (and the faint bluetooth signal light blinking) is NOT cool
  • “no one cares about your conference badges” and who you are - don’t forget to take them off
  • when you are biking, don’t “drown out the truck that’s about to hit you” by wearing music headphones
  • when you are out in public, don’t wear a utility belt of your phone, pda etc. … you are not Batman, and don’t try to be him either… not at all cool
  • don’t wear your phone around your neck like a pendant or necklace, it is just not cool … even if it has a “bling bling” diamond on it.
  • if you are in a movie theater, switch your phone off or at least on vibrate, no one wants to listen to your fancy ring tone while watching the movie … if you are waiting for an important business call - you shouldn’t be at the movies, should you?

I always forget to remove badges. The problem with them is that I dont use a badge regularly. So, I have to be extra cautious with them.
