Evil Miss Dental Hygienist | The Foo Logs

You can basically flip a coin when going to the dentist i.e. to whether you get a good dental hygienist that is careful at what he/she does or one that has a grudge against life, everyone and a secret evil plan to rough up everyone’s mouth (one person at a time). If one gets the later, it might as well be Jason (from Friday the 13th) or Freddy Kruger doing the teeth cleaning. You can’t help but be at their mercy when you are at your most vulnerable (out there on the dentist seat with the dental sharpies in your mouth).

I did get evil Miss Dental Hygienist today… gosh did every gouge, dig and scrape hurt! She was also stretching my mouth as wide as it could possibly go and more. Does she know that a normal person’s mouth only goes so far? Does she know that it hurts if you don’t position the X-Ray plates correctly in one’s mouth? She left the worse for last - the part where they poke a semi-sharp dental tool at your gums to determine what type of grade it is.

By the time she was done with me, my mouth was sore, my gums hurt and it felt as if my teeth was just chiseled and ground down - it’s a wonder how I could even talk. At the end of the session, she asked me whether I had any questions/ comments. Not a chance, I was just ready to leave!  She would have probably pinned me down and done more damage if I said something negative. I could just see her having an evil smile after I left — I was yet another victim in the quest to fulfill her life’s evil mission.

That sounds awful. I have a wonderful dentist in Buenos Aires and I plan my trips just around her. Dr. Margarita is magnificent, gentle, and kind. Not to mention very reasonably priced. She loves people and she loves their teeth and her assistant only books the appointments. The good Dr does all the inside work herself.

I don’t like dentists. They scare the hell out of me. The last time I visited one, I had to have a molar taken out. Guess what? Passed out right after the procedure. And I was on my way down the stairs right when it happened. I think she really wanted to kill me.

Yuck - I hate dentists, the smell of strong detergent, the clinical rooms and the tilty-chair with the spotlight in your face not mouth. However, I have never experienced a toe-curling moment at the dentist coz I’m prous to confess that I have great teeth w/o any holes of fillings.

    sorry, I’m gloating, guys………

I am a business coach, working with dentists and their teams for a living.

I live with a dental hygienist.

Let me assure you that you drew a short straw here - a properly trained and committed hygienist will spend time getting to know you as a person (not a collection of teeth) and will take care to minimise the discomfort - so don’t tar them all with the same brush!

Just keep looking until you find the right one - i did!
