This is turning out to be a crumby week! I wrote about Mr. Contractor not turning up at the beginning of the week… well, this is the third time the same contractor has stood me up (he didn’t show up on Monday, yesterday for a short meeting and today when he promised to start at 8 am). This time not even an email and he wouldn’t even answer his phone.
Three times in three days - you have struck out pal, you are not getting the job and any more of my money (I have since cancelled the job with him). I was just too nice to give you one chance too many. I did pay him half initially to start the job but luckily it was with paypal - where I can dispute the payment to claim my money back. How the heck would I have avoided this when he came with stellar references?
I am now going with another contractor, who seems a lot nicer. I told him he is only seeing payment halfway through and at the end of the job… no upfront payments! This whole situation is just giving me more headache that it is worth!

I hasten to brag about my contractors who completed our extension in Nov. 2003. Colin and Gareth, you know who you are and you ARE the best builders around in Cardiff, United Kingdom. Polite, considerate (coz they don’t trample on my beige carpet with muddy shoes but did put dust-sheets down), honest, very pleasant and most of all, reasonably priced! Thumbs up all the way and this is an ad……..
If any of you in the States prefer to cough up the air-fare and accomodation for Colin and Gareth to fly over and carrry out your buidling works, I can assure you you won’t be dissapointed and you won’t be left with sleepless nights!
We are now proud owners of an open-plan diner, spacious master bedroom with en-suite.
Well done, Colin and Gareth - you put all other builders to shame!

I’ve been a bad blog reader. I’m determined to now catch up. Sorry your week was bad and that contractor was an arsehole.
