It is a matter of time that our cell phones become personal credit cards too ;-) . Those handy little chips that store addresses, telephone numbers etc. in your phone …. why not store credit card data too? It may also save on carrying your bulky wallet everywhere. Everyone and anyone has cell phones nowadays, so it will be one less item (i.e. the wallet) to carry. What used to be an expensive luxury, is now a way of life.
With a new wireless standard called Near Field Communication (NFC), we’ll be able to pay for items by simply swiping our cell phones near cash registers. I can see people making a big fuss about the ease of losing cell phones (and it making ID theft easier) BUT losing your wallet is just about as easy as losing your cell phone, don’t you think? Its just a matter of being responsible enough to keep an eye on your stuff. Carelessness and irresponsibility just can’t (and shouldn’t) stand in the way of technology. Next step… embed your drivers license, insurance card, concert ticket, flight ticket, bus ticket in the chip. Don’t you just love technology? :-)
