It just seems that I’m having less and less time to blog nowadays due to studies, our impending move and the preparation of my new business. On an average day, I have just enough energy to read blogs than to write it. I do apologize for not writing as much.

I hope that my worse fears aren’t coming alive … that this blog is dying a slow death. I can’t bear to see that happen and I’m going to somehow try to keep it alive at all costs. I hold The Foo Logs too close to my heart to have it disappear.

Interestingly, although I haven’t written a blog post in a while and with my infrequent sporadic posting, my blog traffic has somewhat increased. It has gone from an average of 250 unique visitors a day to about 800! It almost seems like I get more traffic when I am not writing than when I do write. I can’t figure that out.

Take a look at my traffic stats since Sept 07 (the time I installed the Mint traffic software on my web host). The traffic shown for today is up to 5 pm only but it is still more than I used to get on an average day.

All the more to keep writing and to keep this blog alive, right? :-)

What’s going on? Every Google blog I go on doesn’t allow me to put my name & website in the comments area. I now only have options to put my Google username/ password, to put a Nickname and to post Anonymously (see pic below). There used to be an area for external websites too.

google signon.jpg

Did they set their comments that way and it is a coincidence that about over 10 blogs of my daily reads show the same thing?

OR

Did Google change their default comment setting option and the blog owners don’t know about it?

Curious to what’s going on here. Appreciate any comments relating to this.

I haven’t done a meme before and decided to do one after being tagged by Dizzy Dee.

Rules

Each player lists 8 random facts/habits about themselves. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning before those facts/habits are listed. At the end of the post, the player then tags 8 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

So here goes …

My 8 random facts (in no particular order):

1. I love Nutella (addicted more like it)
2. Can’t get enough of Starbucks
3. High school classmate is currently a famous fashion designer, glamor model, actress and she’s dating one of the top guys in Hollywood
4. Wish I owned a H2 Hummer
5. When I was younger, I wanted to be a professional tennis player
6. Love to be a Seux chef
7. Would love to work for Disney as an Imagineer
8. Hate people who think they are better than you and always know more than you (i.e. a Mr. Know-It-All)

Not sure how I missed this one but I just found out that my blog received the Bloggy Silver Award exactly a month ago. w00t!

Here is what they said:

bloggyaward-badge-silver.gif“A blog about life, technology, sport, and just about everything else.” That is how The Foo describes his blog, The Foo Logs. I suppose we can classify this blog under the personal journal category but The Foo seems to bring to his readers more than the average daily musings we normally read in personal blogs.

Visual Aesthetics - 8
Yellow, orange, green, blue, gray, and white - these are the colors that will assail your eyes when you visit The Foo Logs. To be honest, I don’t think there is much eye candy in this blog. Then again, that might not be The Foo’s aim in the first place. On another note, the blog is very neat and the posts easy to read, with black font on white background. Some posts have amusing pictures and videos as well.

User Friendliness - 9
The Foo Logs is quite organized. Readers will find the relevant links on the right column, main posts in the middle column. There are ads but they are unobtrusive enough. Sometimes it takes a bit for the videos to load up.

Reading Enjoyment - 9
To my surprise, I actually enjoyed reading a person’s personal blog even though I have never met this person! The Foo writes about a myriad of topics which most any person can relate to - from Facebook to Andre Agassi to unique birthday gifts. His writing style is quite simple and his posts range from funny to, for lack of a better word, insightful. Oh, some might be a bit too “techie” for some.

Useful Info - 9
You’ll find a lot of useful info in The Foo Logs. Some of them are about life in general but a lot are technology-related.

Overall Experience - 9
The Foo Logs is proof that a personal blog can reach out even to strangers. I highly recommend this blog to anyone who enjoys a good read on a regular basis.

BTW: For those of you who have not been on this blog before, the theme colors they were talking about is just a different version of this current theme. I rotate the colors according to my mood/ time of the year and have a total of five different colored robot themes.

Thanks Bloggy Awards, it’s nice to be loved.

Thanksgiving is rapidly closing in and I would like to wish everyone a Happy Turkey day.

As a national day symbolizing the Pilgrim celebration of harvest, food and feasting, let us remember that it is also a time for thanks and praise to God for the food that he has given us.

Also hoping that the Thanksgiving dinner of turkey, ham, mash potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, pecan pie and all the other good food that comes with it doesn’t give you too much of a belly ache (from eating too much).

And Black Friday… who can forget the one (of the two days) in the year where people actually camp outside stores to get the best deals of the year. Tempting as it is with the deals at Best Buy or Circuit City, it is just too cold to stand outside at 4am in the morning — so you won’t find me doing that anytime soon. For those of you who might consider braving the cold, here is a good site to read about the fantastic deals from the major outlets.

I have also decided to take the rest of the month off (and maybe a little more) to finish off work priorities, deadlines and spend time with J and her relatives too. Unfortunately, I have not been able to juggle work and blogging this past month with everything that is going on around this holiday season.

If anyone would like to guest blog on The Foo Logs during that time, please feel free to contact me. Have a wonderful time with your family and look forward to blogging again soon.

Seems like a number of the blogs I read everyday haven’t been updated in a while. They are probably burnt out with blogging or are pretty busy this time of the year.

Lately, I’ve kind of been sporadic with my blogging as I try to catch up with my MBA coursework. Being on jaiku and twitter is a bad distraction too.

I think I’m just mentally exhausted with the busy days and lack of sleep. Putting my feet up, being lazy and watching TV seems like a better option for now. I do have to make a conscious effort to post short snippets, quotes and references on my scrapbook instead.

I know what I need … a good night’s sleep, a relaxing weekend and I’m sure I’ll come back refreshed! TGIF and hope your weekend is a great one.

I have decided to create a Lifestream for myself as I think it’s a great idea and lifehack.

This post may help explain what exactly it is and what purpose it serves. Many thanks to Emily Chang for telling me about it and the Lifestream blog for providing great info.

What is a Lifestream?

It’s a single place where I can see what I am (or have been) bookmarking, blogging about, listening to, going to, and thinking about. It combines all my feeds, comments I’ve made on other blogs and social networking apps (like Jaiku, Twitter, Pownce etc.) in one place organized by time and date.

Why do I have one?

Mainly to

… get myself organized!
… track and discover my daily blogging/ web patterns
… create a one stop place to interactively search and look at my previous web activities

and last but not least, to share my daily web activities with you (if you are ever interested in it).

I am currently using one I made from Profilactic. This will probably be temporary while I look for the ideal lifestream app and test out the various scripts available. I prefer an app hosted on my own server where I have more control and flexibility over my data.

Click on the links below to see my lifestream:

Via Shoemoney and SEOmoz, thought I might also try to list 5 websites that I can’t do without.

It was near impossible to narrow it down to five, so I did ten sites instead. Here’s my top 10 favorite sites and daily reads (in no particular order):

1. Techcrunch
Daily (and latest) news of tech businesses and Web 2.0 startups from Michael Arrington

2. USA Today
Daily news around the globe

3. ESPN
Can’t miss the latest sports news!

4. Techmeme
Compilations of tech news around the internet and blogosphere

5. New Scientist
The latest science trends and discoveries of the day

6. How to change the world
A marketing blog of Guy Kawasaki, director of a venture capitalist company and columnist for Entrepreneur Magazine

7. Michelle Malkin
Conservative syndicated columnist, author, and Fox News Channel contributor

8. Lifehacker
Gina Trapani recommends downloads, web sites and shortcuts that save time

9. O’Reilly Radar
Tim O’Reilly’s blog about tech, emerging markets, publishing and more.

10. The Dilbert Blog
Amusing and opinionated blog of Scott Adams (the creator of Dilbert)

These came close but didn’t make the top 10 list:
Mashable, JohnChow.com, Engadget, Luxist, GigaOm, Matt Cutts, Read/Write Web, Go2Web2

These would have made the list a year ago but I’ve since lost interested in them:
Problogger, Scobleizer, Blog Maverick, Digg, Valleywag, Crunchgear, 43 Folders, Gizmodo

So what does your list look like? Let me know in the comments. I would love to learn about new and interesting sites.

Check out my new Tumblelog, a compilation of bits and pieces around the blogosphere. It is my online scrapbook of interesting links, photos, quotes and more. I figured it’ll be good to use it as a place to put online links without the frills, lengthy text and comments i.e. just keeping it simple and sweet. It’s also a neat site that I can share with all of you too. Hope you enjoy it.
