I love The Who. They are one of my favorites and (in my opinion) THE best British bands of all time. About a month ago, J and I went to The Blue Man Group: How to be a Rock Star 2.0 concert and it was just awesome - a rock concert like no other. The icing on the cake was when they performed a very good cover version of The Who’s “Baba O’Riley” (a.k.a “Teenage Wasteland”) together with their trademark homemade musical plastic pipe instruments, use of spatulas as drum sticks, pounding of the grand piano and lots of paint splatter/ streamers. Anyone who watched “America’s Got Talent” in the summer would have seen them performing the song (with Tracey Bonham at vocals).
Here is a recording of that very performance. I was hoping to find The Blue Man Group concert version of the song on YouTube but was unsuccessful.
And while I am at it, here is the real thing… the one, the only - The Who, performing “Baba O’Riley” in New York at the 2001 World Trade Center Benefit Concert. They are a lot older, without their long hair and sober but nevertheless still the same rockin’ band! Sadly, this was a year before John Entwistle’s (the bass guitarist) tragic death.

I missed The Who last year (I think) in order to see a very, very ordinary performance by Caribou at a friend’s request. *kicks self*

I liked the Blue Man Group. I have seen them before on TV. I came from Dr John’s marathon.

I have always been a fan of ‘The Who’, but after trying to see them about 5 years ago and almost costing me 80 bucks for a ticket, I decided that theres nothing wrong with listening on the the stereo. The Blue Man Group just pours talent into everything they do. Even a version of Right Said Fred’s failed masterpice would once again be a hit if done by TBMG.

When I think of The Who, I think of their ‘Don’t Get Fooled Again’ song that’s played before CSI Miami.

Love the Who. Found your blog while searching for something that “Imus in the morning” (96.9FM) was talking about regarding the Who. The video was great, thanks..

Hey, glad you liked Blue Man. What’d you think of the Floyd cover with the Rock Box? I got a video of it from this past Sunday’s Anaheim show:

Kathy: wow you searched The Who and my blog came up? that’s pretty good… thanks for visiting!
Phillip F: that pink floyd rendition was a good one… they did that one at the concert we went to a month ago. good thing i wasn’t sitting in the front row — my ears would have been ringing for a couple of weeks.

Thanks for the video. I love the Who too! Just saw them on Wednesday night in San Jose, CA. They rocked as usual :)
One sad moment was during the little bass riffs in My Generation. Not the same without John Entwistle.

We saw these guys in Vegas a couple of years ago, and you’re right, it’s a show no one wants to miss.

The Who blew the lid off that 9-11 concert. Only Daltry and Townsend are left, but they’ve still got it.

Lori: i’m jealous — would love to see them in concert.
John Pangia: i wish they will come to this to this part of the USA instead of staying out in the West. I’ll have to make a special trip sometime when they have a concert.
Paul: yes they still rock!
