Is this AOL’s attempt to sway the IE and Firefox browser war, the last effort to keep their clientele and/or to redeem themselves from decreasing sales? …
AOL OpenRide is an innovative software with a quad-pane design that brings all your online activities–email, browsing, instant messaging, and broadband media consumption–into one convenient, streamlined experience. More than just a browser, its four-pane design puts everything you need right at your fingertips. No more jumping from one window to the next–everything you need is right there, the moment you need it.
This software includes time-saving features like tabbed browsing, thumbnail previews, and sneak peeks of emails and attachments. Manage your multiple email accounts–AOL and non-AOL–from one inbox. All-in-one media center lets you enjoy video, music, and pictures faster with less hassles.

The OpenRide panes automatically resize to your current activity, giving you a better look at the features you’re using. You can resize the panes on your own with the Dynasizer tool, so you’re always in control of your online experience.

So if I use Firefox this AOL thing is better. I hate AOL.

Libragirl: There is nothing better than Firefox (but that is just my opinion). I just think that AOL is trying to revamp the whole all-in-one concept that worked well for them in the past when the internet was just becoming popular and with no competition. Seems like they are also incorporating some of the features of what the new firefox and IE are having. Are they all forced moves? Probably.

poor poor AOL… it feels so unfulfilled in it’s short life… AOL knows it’s dying, but why must it keep fighting?

I have no feelings towards AOL but that is a nice idea. I probably wouldn’t use it though, I kind of like to separate my things out, reduces the risk of killing everything when only one thing goes spaz.
