What a great Saturday it turned out to be! We went to [1] The Village Peddler, a yearly farm festival nearby. Not a big fan of farms or farm festivals but I must admit that this one wasn’t as bad as I thought - it had good food, a happy atmosphere, live local country bands and more than 150 individual booths/ tents of people selling their home made crafts. The smell of the parogies, funnel cakes, hot dogs, kettlecorn popcorn, apple fritters and pitas were so good and enough to make you gain weight just smelling it.

She also managed to convince me to go to a Tea Room (called Remember When) for lunch. “Remember When” happens to be a small establishment with a quant, Victorian style sit down tea room. This is the second time I have been “dragged” to one, tearooms are always a test of my masculinity as everyone having tea/lunch there are women, and as expected I was the sole man there. The menu had a mixture of English style pastries, soups, salads, delicious lunch offerings and of course the many difference kinds of tea. My lunch order of Saffron Chicken and Mushroom Crepe with a portion of garden salad and corn bread was delicious. Together with the maple scone and strawberry ice tea, my stomach was certainly happy which more than made up for the uncomfortable fact of being the only man there.

Spending a few hours at [1] The Village Peddler festival, I managed to get myself a scented candle for my office - not just any old candle … it’s a life sized replica candle of a chocolate brownie with ice cream, chocolate drizzle and cherry (see picture on the right - yes it’s ALL made of wax). OMG, if only I could eat this thing! What was surprising is that wifey (who is big on homemade crafts) didn’t find anything she liked, and with me buying some homemade pasta … it is seldom that I go to one of these craft shows to end up buying more than her.

Ending the day off eating at [3] Chipotle Mexican Grill, together with the day’s perfect weather, I think it was one of the most enjoyable weekends we have had in a long time!
