I have seen several innovative Halloween costumes but as reported in the evening news today, some costumes are just in exceedingly bad taste –
- Crocodile Hunter with a blood stained fake stingray barb embedded in the chest.
- Dressing up as a molester priest together with a fake kid positioned in an uncompromising position.
- An Arab suicide bomber together with strapped bombs and grenades
- A corpse wearing Mardi Gras stickers
- A 911 firefighter corpse
- An Al-Queda terrorist
I just can’t stand people that put on so much perfume or cologne that it is hard to breathe when standing near them. It was the case yesterday when a female membership director attended to me at a new gym in my area. Yes, I appreciate the fact that you wanted to smell good but you were going a little overboard with it. As with everything in life… moderation is key! It took me a few hours before my sinuses cleared from the overwhelming scent. I can’t imagine the amount of perfume bottles she goes through a year.
Donald Burleson sums it up perfectly:
Too much perfume is considered especially heinous when the stench is so strong as to cause allergic reactions or when the odor can be detected from more than 3 feet away. Remember, the quality of perfume is inversely proportional to the price, and one can quickly tell if you are wearing a cheap, “stink pretty” perfume.
I missed Borat on Letterman yesterday but I did find the playback on YouTube. He’s hilarious and I can’t wait to see the movie when it comes out on Nov 3rd. Have read good reviews on it from even the normally harsh critics. For those who haven’t heard of the movie yet, it is a comedy documentary of Borat Sagdiyev, a so-called Kazakhstani television top media personality who comes to the USA to experience and film the American way of life. Sacha Baron Cohen stars as Borat and HBO viewers may know him as Ali G on “Da Ali G Show“. An Oxford University graduate in English Literature, Sacha is a British comedian who has gained popularity with his comedic exploits on stereotypes.

In the spirit of Halloween, you would need to specify your choice of food today or forever be haunted by the Ghost of Franculastein Foodville!
And finally, a classic Simpsons Halloween clip … The Shinning …
Found this printed card when I was clearing my drawer out. I believe my mom gave it to me years ago when I left for college.
Don’t Quit
by Anonymous
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out –
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit –
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.
I have been using the new Firefox 2 browser for the past couple of days now. Although I am not overly wow’d by some of the new built in features (only because I had similar extensions for it in the old version 1.5), there are some new features that I am thankful for. Here is my take on the new browser…
Of all the useful inventions, products and modern products for the house, Mr. Clean’s Magic Eraser is the one that tops it all. With no frills and complicated mechanisms, this product somehow gets rid of any grease/ ink or the toughest of stains on any non-cloth surface. I can’t figure it out, it’s a white sponge! Just moisten it with water, rub and the stain is gone. I used it around the house this past week and it removed the heaviest of black scuff marks from our painted walls/doors, got the grout off in between the kitchen tiles and scrubbed grease from the stove hood with ease and no odor.
I have a theory - this so called Magic Eraser has some hypnotic ingredient (when mixed with water) that makes one think the surface is cleaned.
Life is Good, that is the name of my favorite clothing wear. I like it not just for the infectious smile of Jake (their mascot) but for the way the company started, what they give back to the community and how those three words serve as a reminder of how lucky we are compared to the millions of underprivileged/ famined people out there in the world.
If I look at my life, I am lucky… yes, I have my ups and downs but when I really look at it, it is nothing compared to those out there that don’t have food to eat, don’t have a home, have incurable diseases/ sicknesses and more.
Talk about being spooked out! While waiting for the pizza delivery man tonight, the doorbell rang and J rushed to the door in joy thinking that the pizza had come. She opened the door, and no one was there … stood outside for 5 minutes and no one was in sight. Yup, Halloween is just around the corner and the ghosts are playing tricks already. By the way, the real pizza man came 20 minutes later.
